My name is Morgan and I am a Cadette Girl Scout. I am planning an EARTH DAY Themed Community Clean-up Scavenger Hunt.
Please meet us at Starin Park at about 5:20 p.m (so we can start at 5:30).
Also, please bring 6-10+ Sentry/Wal-Mart plastic bags. It is important that we separate garbage and recycling and dispose of it properly. We will be breaking into smaller groups and walking around town for approximately 45 minutes, so parent participation is needed. Bring a wagon if you can. It helps a LOT! Our plan is to ask some local residents to place their garbage and recycling containers out for us to use. Sorting garbage and recycling as you pick it up is the best way to do it. If you have a wagon, place your full bags in there.

I am inviting kids from Whitewater, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, our church youth group, plus anyone and everyone who would like to join us, so tell your friends. :)
If you’re a Scout: Wear your scout uniform. We’ll try to take a big group picture at the start. Would be fun to submit the picture to the newspaper.

2014_Earth_Day2Earth Day: It’s a great time to learn about our planet and how to take care of it. One hour of time will make a huge difference in our community.
Let’s hope for a nice day!!! We will meet rain or shine. Bring an umbrella :)

Thanks for your consideration.
Morgan

Parents: After we have a little group meeting and group photo, please feel free to walk around town with your small group for as long as you’d like. If we have a great turnout, we may ask if there is anyone who would be willing to drive and start from another location. Example: drive and start from LINCS or Washington schools. Reason = there are only so many roads that branch off from Starin Park. We can cover the city of Whitewater better if we start from a few different locations. It would take too long to walk across town.

The duration of the scavenger hunt will be determined by the age of the children and their interest. Every little bit helps, but there is no set time that each group needs to walk around. You can leave when finished. Unfortunately, there is no recycling container at Starin Park. Please plan to sort out your garbage and recycling and dispose of it properly. FYI: there is a recycling container at LINCS and probably at Washington School, too.
Thanks

Join us: Galatians 5:22-23

fruitbackground2How long has it been since you’ve had a checkup to assess your spiritual health?

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” (Galatians 5:22-23)

Jesus spent his entire life as a perfect role model for a servant of God–humble, caring, kind, and compassionate; always putting others before himself through love, forgiveness, and servitude. Serving isn’t something that only draws us closer to others, it draws us nearer to God himself and the fruit of the Spirit that God desires us to produce and share.

JOIN US: September 7th, 2014, for an exciting kick-off to the church year.

MEMBERS AND KIDS: Please bring a can or two of fruit. We will be donating it to the food pantry.

Come to know the freedom of a life filled with peace, joy, gentleness, and other positive characteristics. By developing and maintaining an intimate relationship with the Spirit of God, you will be able to nurture and cultivate the fruit of the Spirit in your daily life.

The Bible refers to literal fruit—such as olives, grapes and figs—many times. More frequently the biblical Hebrew and Greek words translated “fruit” have a symbolic sense. All crops are considered “fruit of the earth.” Children are called the “fruit of the womb.” A man’s words are “the fruit of his mouth.”

In ancient and modern times, people have used “fruit” to mean results, products, outcomes, accomplishments and achievements. An employee must be productive to be worthy of his wage. He must work hard, work fast and work smart to get jobs done and done right. In Scripture, “fruit” has similar meanings.

When God’s Spirit is at work in a person, amazing things happen. The person’s whole life blossoms and bears beautiful fruit. Through the Spirit you can experience joy and peace in every circumstance, no matter how difficult or painful.
