Our congregation and denomination have close ties to Back Bay Mission in Biloxi, Mississippi. We began taking adult mission trips there in 2012, during which times participants have helped in various ways to support the work of Back Bay, including work on homes in serious need of repair. The Mission has a long history of rehabilitating housing in Biloxi, Mississippi. They do not, however, have any funds to purchase stoves or refrigerators for these houses.
Bob DiGiacomo, Assistant for Housing Recovery at Back Bay commented that “We really do not see any possibility in the future either. After Katrina hit, the Red Cross handed out vouchers to people in need of appliances, and Catholic Charities and Salvation Army had stockpiled some as well. That was the only outlet for those needing appliances. They both have long since ceased that assistance.”
Can you imagine not having these essential appliances in your house? We hope that you will prayerfully consider donating to our Back Bay Mission – Appliance Fund. Checks can be made to the Church with a notation that it is designated for the Back Bay Mission – Appliance Fund. Any cash can be put in an envelope with that designation. If you have questions, please contact Kathy Ross (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The photos are a house that is currently under construction and will soon need new appliances. For more information on Back Bay Mission click here.
