Join us, June 19th at the UCC Church, 133 S. Franklin Street, Whitewater, WI, for a presentation on Buddhism. We will begin with a potluck meal at 11:15am, with the presentation to follow (starting at about noon). Come for both the meal and presentation, or just the presentation. ALL ARE WELCOME!
In the past several decades, Buddhism has had an increasing impact on our society. On July 19th, we’ll have an opportunity to learn more about this religion and to ask questions we have as well. At Noon, Dr. Wade Dazey, a professor from the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at UW-W, will speak to us about some of the basics of Buddhism and will answer questions we might have.
Dr. Wade Dazey
Professor Emeritus in Religious Studies
Wade is a retired professor currently teaching part-time at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. During his many years at UW-Whitewater he served as department chairperson and taught a wide range of courses including Introduction to Eastern Religions.
Dr. Dazey will speak about Buddhism.
This will be the second in a series we are calling Understanding Our Differences.
The first was the talk on Islam.
We are hoping to have three per year.
We hope to have presentations on other religions, other ethnicities and other cultures (which could include the handicapped, veterans, immigrants, etc.).
Ideas will be welcomed by the Christian Education and Mission & Generosity committees who are co-sponsoring these presentations.
